Become a Better Mom in 30 Days-Week 3 Challenge

Welcome back to the Become a Better Mom Challenge!

If you’re just now joining us, you are welcome to jump in with last week’s challenge or start with today’s, whichever you prefer.

To join the challenge, leave a comment here telling me you are in or updating me on how you’re doing so far! Throughout the week, check my Facebook page for updates and to join in the conversation. We’ll hold each other accountable there (and get encouragement to stay strong!)

Now…on to this week’s challenge…

We had a pretty tough challenge last week, so I’m hoping this one won’t be quite as difficult. (BUT…please keep going with the first two challenges!! They say it takes about 21 days to form a habit. If you keep doing what you’ve already been doing for just a little bit longer, it will become much more natural.)

Week 3 Challenge: Read to your child every day.

Reading to your child is one of the most important things you can do for his or her education (if not THE most important thing). But, along with academic excellence, there are other reasons to read to your child daily.

Here are just a few of them:

Reasons to Read to Your Children:

1. It strengthens your relationship with your child and is a great way to get one-on-one time with each kid.

2. It teaches your kids reading and learning are  fun. There is no better way to build a lifelong learner than to read to him.

3. It helps with speech and language development, logical thinking skills, concentration, etc.

4. It allows you to enjoy each child’s individuality.

5. It takes you and your child to other worlds. You get to step into the world of Planes with your three-year-old and then learn all about Hammerhead Sharks with your five-year-old, all from the comfort of your own home.

6. It can create great conversations. Reading a book can open the door to tons of conversations that would have never happened had you not picked up a book.

So…who is with me? Who will commit to read to your children every single day this week? If you’re willing to give this a try, leave a comment on this post.

I plan to read to my kids before bed. I think that’s the easiest way to make this a habit for our family. When do you plan to read to your kiddos?

Also…be on the lookout for more giveaways coming up! And check my Facebook page for updates this week and to join in the conversation.

Really bombed the week 2 challenge… maybe those of you made it have wisdom to share. I’m still good on week 1 and on board for week 3.

I struggled too. But the important thing is that we are trying and that God can help us, right?! So glad you’re still with us:)
