12 best gifts for new moms

Best Gifts for New Moms:

1. Meals! Meals! Meals!

New moms and dads are super-tired, so it’s a huge blessing to not have to worry about cooking a meal.

2. Gift certificates to spas

New moms often experience achy muscles.

What better way to pamper a new parent than by sending her to the spa for an hour or two?

One thing you should keep in mind, though, is that some new moms might not feel like getting a massage shortly after giving birth because of the changes going on with their bodies, but I bet they’d still enjoy a good foot rub or manicure.

3. Gift cards to Walmart, Target, Starbucks, or local restaurants

There are two things most new parents have in common: they’re tired and money is tight. (Diapers are expensive!) Bless them with a gift card.

4. A clean home

Come over for a couple of hours and clean their home for them. (But make sure they know you’re coming so they’re not totally embarrassed by the look of their home when you arrive.) Or, pay for a housecleaning service.

5. Pampering items

Even if mom can’t leave the house for a spa day, that doesn’t mean she can’t pamper herself at home. Give her a bottle of lotion, some bath salts, bubble bath, new nail polish, body scrubs, etc.

6. Chocolate!

Because who doesn’t want chocolate, right?

7. A devotional for moms

Must read book for new momsSearching for Sanity is a book designed for new moms who are short on time but still want to spend time in the Word of God.

Ruth Schwenk, owner of TheBetterMom.com, said it was exactly “what weary mamas need.”

8. A cute new top

Many new moms don’t feel especially attractive. I know I didn’t! A cute new sweatshirt or loose-fitting top can be very encouraging to her.

9. Other books

New parents spend a lot of time feeding their babies. If the new mom in your life enjoys reading, pick up a few new books for her to dig into as she feeds her child.

10. Custom jewelry

Pick up a “Mom” necklace or other piece of jewelry. One of my favorite places for custom jewelry is The Vintage Pearl.

11. New slippers for the many late nights she’ll be walking the halls of her home, soothing a cranky baby

12. Diapers

Because we all probably know what it’s like to realize at 1 AM that you just used the last diaper. Give her diapers to help her keep her supply up at all hours of the night.

  1. Miranda

I would also say a great gift is helping them set up a photo session with a photographer. Those baby moments fly by. It is good having some high quality photos. I love the ones I got of my little princess.
