There are things in your life you take for granted…that other people are praying for.

A few weeks ago, I attended a women’s event at a local Bible college near me.

One of the speakers asked us to consider what things in our life we take for granted that other people are praying for.

And I just can’t get it out of my head.

Because the truth is…I tend to forget.

I get caught up in the monotony of daily chores and I forget that those shoes that my kids kick off wherever they want (rather than where I ask them to leave them) are a reminder that I have two beloved children that someone else would give anything to have.

Those towels that rarely make it back to the bathroom and instead land on the bedroom floor of my teenager’s room are reminders that I have a healthy child (and running water…and a hot water heater).

Those dirty clothes that miss the laundry basket…a reminder that we have money to buy clothes – not just clothes we need but also clothes we want.

Those socks that have holes in them because my youngest refuses to wear shoes – a reminder that we have a large yard for him to run around in.

And I could go on.

Those things – little things that sometimes drive me crazy – are things that someone else would give anything to have.

So this weekend, with Mother’s Day coming up, if you have little blessings that make big messes…remember with me that there are other people out there praying for a child to clean up after.

These people in my home that keep it dirty and break things and don’t always listen when I speak…these little people are the answer to my prayers.
